In the 1800s the land along the bluffs in Mendocino had many houses with gardens. The homes are now gone but the cabbage from the gardens remain. And in the spring, their tiny yellow flowers bolt up to my chest. They are sprinkled all over the open fields. Lemon yellow flecks of happiness everywhere. My mom lives in mendocino so when I go visit her I paint outside a lot.
